History of Unilaser medica
1991 - 1994Unilaser Medica starts with Doctors Adrián Ríos and Olga Helena Uribe at the service of skin tumors removal, skin Aging treatments with CO2 laser.
1995 - 1997We introduced Photoderm VL/PL® in Colombia, the first IPL (Intense pulsed light) for hair removal treatments based on light. We started to treat vascular and pigmentary lesions with IPL, hair removal, and aged skin. In 1995 we started applying Botulinum toxin in our center after the arrival of Dr. Monica Lizarralde Lara. In 1996 we began to use Ruby Laser for hair removal treatments and Laser tattoo removal. In late 1996, Dr. Abraham Lechter, the most eminent professor of peripheral vascular surgery at that time brought his experience and expertise in sclerotherapy for leg veins.
1998 - 2001We began hair removal treatments with the Alexandrite laser, which proved faster results and greater efficiency than Ruby laser. Arrival of first Nd-YAG for vascular laser treatment of leg veins. Arrival of Erbium-YAG laser, indicated for vaporization of superficial skin lesions.
2002We started Blue light acne treatments. Research is performed with the results obtained and presented in the Colombian Society of Dermatology by Dr. Monica Rivera. We started training Residents from the Medical Aesthetics School from Universidad del Rosario.
2003 - 2006We began dermoscopy studies of pigmented lesions. Arrival of Aurora® (IPL), Polaris® and Lightsheer®, which improved the results in laser hair removal. It was proved that with the use of different equipments, the results of hair removal are superior.
2007Development of manual fractional technique with CO2 laser for skin aging treatments. This technique was developed based on nonablative rejuvenation principles with Fraxel®.
2008 - 2009We started photodynamic therapy (PDT) with Aktilite® and Clearlight® lamps for the treatment of actinic keratosis, non-melanoma skin cancers, warts and acne. The summary of this experience was presented by Dr. Andrés Luque in the first symposium COLCOME rejuvenation Photodynamic therapy in Bogotá in 2010. Arrival of Fraxel® indicated for skin aging, striae and scars treatments. We started laserlipólisis treatments with the Fox 980® laser. This laser is used in the presence of fat tumors as lipomas and for localized obesity. We acquired the Q-Switched laser Q-YAG® for remotion of black, red and brown tattoos.
2010Arrival of Selectif Pro® device for white hair removal. Renovation of first Fraxel® laser.
2011Acquisition of Thulium Fraxel® for Melasma, pigmented lesions and photodamage treatments. Arrival of Soprano XLi a hair removal laser for larger areas.
2012Acquisition of Q-Plus® laser (Nd-YAG Q-Switched) for tattoo removal treatments. Presentation of the study “Long term results of laser hair removal: Follow up after 12 months or more” in the ASLMS annual meeting held in Orlando, Florida. Our first investigation work with Universidad del Rosario and Dr. Liliana Ballesteros
2013Renovation device Alexandrita Quanta (Light A) version with more power, possibility of pulse trains and dry cooling. Research works with Residents of Aesthetic Medicine at the University of Rosario: Tattoo Removal with Dr. Silvia Garcia and Laser Mole Removal with Dr. Tatiana Leal.. Resident rotations begin Laser from Institute of Dermatological Federico Lleras Acosta.
2014Renewal Soprano Xli Ice with handpiece Alexandrita to cover lower efficiency segment of LightSheer and traditional Alexandrite lasers.
